philanthopic advising & intermediary services
HDI acts as a philanthropic intermediary and advisor for philanthropists and foundations looking to invest in Haitian organizations or guidance inform their grant making.
Despite the billions of dollars invested in Haiti over the last decade, little systemic progress can be seen, especially in rural communities...
Meaningful systemic progress in development in Haiti has also proven elusive in Haiti due to the 1) gaps in information, transparency, and accountability for nonprofits and philanthropy; and 2) lack of coordination and collaboration between funders and implementers. .We believe that strengthening the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors in Haiti can be accomplished through increased transparency, accountability, and collaboration. The importance of transparency, disclosure, and accountability has been widely documented. Accountability and transparency are not simple mantras to be stated, but rather lead to tangible increases in philanthropic impact and sustainability. Particularly in a country like Haiti where mistrust runs high, it is vital that philanthropy and private social investment engender trust, confidence, and respect, which are brought about through accountable and transparent practices.
