StrongER Leaders.

Stronger Organizations.

Stronger Communities.

Meaningful and sustainable change in Haiti must come from within Haiti itself.  Local leaders and community based organizations are the keys to real and lasting progress.

Local leaders need direct financial and organizational support to help them build successful organizations that can grow and sustain their work.

We empower local leaders, organizations, and social entrepreneurs with the skills, tools, resources and connections they need to lead community development.  We help the philanthropic community connect to these organizations and support truly Haitian-led development efforts by acting as a grant intermediary.  And we support communities to convene public and private stakeholders around community planning efforts.

More engaged and secure citizens who feel empowered in their own community can then contribute to national development and an equitable and prosperous Haiti.

 VISION 10

HDI is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2020.  We’ve been on the ground in rural Haiti for ten years, and built relationships with nearly 1000 local organizations working to improve agricultural output, develop livelihoods, empower women and girls, and strengthen communities.

We eagerly anticipate our next phase, as we continue to build HDI into a strong and enduring development institution.
